“SLIM software has been implemented at our library since 2006 and we find the software useful in building collection in Bhoti/Tibetan language. Although our institute is geographically far off and remains cut off from other parts of India during winter for six to seven months in a year due to severe cold weather and heavy snowfall on the passes. “ IIPS Library was fully computerized in 1997 and all the databases have been converted to SLIM. We are happy to say that SLIM is the most suitable library management software for the academic as well as special Library. We are operating all the modules and some innovative experiments like direct data entry from Amazon (which saves a lot of time, labor), it also gives the jacket picture on OPAC. LIBMAP module is the original idea of the IIPS library and the Algorhythm team has brought it in reality with great success. Application of this module indicates the physical location of documents in the library in graphical format. “ After installing SLIM software, the SMS system has been implemented in our library since 2012. This is an additional benefit to the borrower students to recall the date of issue, date of return, overdue (fine) which confirms the transaction made in the library. Thus confusion about the issue or return of books is not there in the minds of students as there is a written message. Students are having satisfaction with SMS systems as they can avoid economic losses on overdue /fine as getting weekly messages. Interest in library use is being increased among the students community due to SMS facility.”

“ We are using an online membership registration module, which is working well in our library. Students register themselves filling their details. After filling the form, they get a form number. Using the form number, library staff retrieve the form in SLIM software, verify details and assign Borrower ID. At the end of the day we take color printouts of all the library cards, stamp, sign and distribute them. In 1- 2 days maximum students will get the library card and start using library services, which was not possible earlier. Now with this module our work is reduced. Data is saved in the software of only those students, who have taken library cards. In our college we have 8000+ students and earlier we were printing 8000 cards which was just a waste of stationery and money. With less staff we are managing well with the help of SLIM software. This software is excellent. Software provides all the alternate solutions whatever we need. This year our membership increased to 2500+ active members”
